Axi Review: A Closer Look for UAE Traders

Axi is an international broker with a strong focus on MetaTrader, founded in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. The group operates under multiple regulators, including ASIC, FCA, DFSA, CySEC, and SVG. Axi does not hold a local license from the mainland UAE regulator, but its group entity is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Regulation

In the UAE, any firm offering forex/CFD or investment services to the public must hold a local licence from one of three regulators: the Securities & Commodities Authority (SCA) on the mainland (formally renamed the Capital Market Authority, CMA, effective 1 January 2026), the DFSA in the DIFC, or the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).

Axi’s group entity is regulated by the DFSA, which applies leverage caps around 1:30 aligned with EU standards. Offshore brokers marketing to UAE residents advertise far higher leverage (1:500–1:1000+).

FYI
When you sign up, check that the entity listed on your client agreement is the DFSA-regulated one. The registration number must match what you see on the DFSA public register.
FYI
Verify the firm via the DFSA public register at dfsa.ae before funding.

Account Types

Axi offers three account types.

On the Standard account, you pay no commission but the spread is wider. On the Pro account, you get raw spreads from 0.0 pips but pay a fixed commission. The Pro account is cheaper if you trade high volume; the Standard account suits smaller size.

Taxation

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) administers VAT and the 9% corporate tax. There is no personal income tax and no capital gains tax on individual trading profits (forex, stocks, crypto, derivatives). Individual retail traders keep full trading profit and have no personal-income filing duty for trading income.

Corporate tax of 9% applies to business profits above AED 375,000 (since June 2023), but a 'Qualifying Free Zone Person' in DIFC/ADGM/DMCC can qualify for 0% on qualifying income. Traders operating as a business or company may fall in scope - confirm with the FTA (tax.gov.ae).

No Mainland License

Axi does not hold a license from the SCA/CMA on the mainland. Its regulated entity is under the DFSA within the DIFC free zone.

Leverage Limits

DFSA-regulated entities cap leverage around 1:30, aligned with EU standards. Higher leverage is not available on regulated accounts.

No standard deposit bonus is verified for Axi.

Verdict

Defensible for:Beginners who want a regulated environment and a straightforward platform. The Standard account is simple with no commission. The group has operated since 2007.

Questionable for:Traders seeking the high leverage (1:500–1:1000+) advertised by offshore brokers, or those who prefer a broker with a physical presence on the mainland under an SCA/CMA license.
